Share

Charter Hospital of Long Beach will sponsor a “Youth at Risk” program Saturday at its Downey Counseling Center. Children and adolescents ages 4 through 18 can receive free professional health evaluations.

The program is designed to identify health risks in nutrition and fitness, eating disorders, psychological problems, chemical dependency, education and learning disabilities. Assessments of personal values and family and social influences on the use and avoidance of alcohol and drugs also will be offered.

The evaluations will be conducted by Dr. Clifford Corman, medical director of the adolescent services and chemical dependency department of Charter Hospital of Long Beach; Dr. George Jayatilaka, a pediatrician; and Dr. George Karamigios, a child psychiatrist. Parents may discuss and review with the doctors the written evaluations that will be provided.
