The wife of rock singer John Cougar Mellencamp has filed for divorce after eight years of marriage. The attorney for Victoria L. Mellencamp, 30, of Bloomington, Ind., confirmed the action over the weekend but declined to discuss the case. The couple have been separated since May, 1988. Mrs. Mellencamp filed the petition four days after the birth of Mellencamp’s first grandchild, Elexis Suzanne Peach.
