Firefighters completed a line around a 600-acre grass and brush fire near the Sequoia National Forest today and expected full control of the illegal fireworks-caused blaze by 6 p.m.

The fire, the largest of three in the area during the Labor Day weekend, broke out Sunday just outside the forest’s southern boundary. Witnesses said several people were setting off fireworks in the area.
