La Habra : Suspicious Blaze Damages Sears Store

Share

A fire of suspicious origin was confined to the storage room of a Sears store Tuesday, but the blaze still caused about $40,000 in damage before firefighters could put it out, authorities said.

About 25 firefighters from departments in La Habra, La Habra Heights, Fullerton, Buena Park and Los Angeles County fire struggled about four hours with the blaze, which broke out shortly before noon in the store in the 1600 block of West Whittier Boulevard, La Habra Fire Capt. Fred Rodriguez said.

The storage room was “not very accessible,” and firefighters had to break through two walls to reach the flames, Rodriquez said.
