Albacore Plentiful but Small

Share

The San Diego sportfishing fleet is still finding scattered schools of smaller albacore, but the excitement generated by the arrival of the popular tuna earlier this summer has subsided somewhat.

Mike Laurs of the National Marine Fisheries Service in La Jolla said such concentrations of small albacore are common, but that they usually are accompanied by fish in the 15- to 30-pound range, which is not the case now.
