Golden West Picks Off Southwestern for Victory
Golden West College took advantage of nine turnovers to take a 32-9 victory over Southwestern Friday in a Mission Conference football game in front of about 500 at Orange Coast College.
Dan Blake had a pair of interceptions for Golden West, which intercepted five passes. The Rustlers (2-1, 2-0) also recovered four fumbles.
Wide receiver Tom Wind had five catches for 130 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Rip Flippo was eight of 12 for 128 yards but suffered a bruised forearm and left the game in the third quarter. Dave Brunet, his replacement, was four of seven for 45 yards and also rushed for 17.
