Eric Griffin, who lost a chance to make the 1988 United States Olympic team when he tested positive for marijuana, won the World amateur boxing championship at 106 pounds in Moscow.
The 5-foot-3 Griffin, 22, of Houston, chased Cuban Rogelio Marcelo for three rounds and caught him often enough for a 17-13 decision victory.
