The Dana Hills High School football team ended its nonleague season undefeated for the first time in its history Friday with a 24-3 victory over visiting University.
The Dolphins (5-0) won the same way they’ve been winning all season--behind the running of fullback Matt Carvalho and an impressive defense.
Carvalho had 168 yards on 27 carries, including a touchdown, and the defense held University (2-3) to a 28-yard field goal by David Jacobson with eight minutes 43 seconds remaining the third quarter.
After a scoreless first quarter, Dana Hills exploded for 17 points in the second.
The Dolphins scored with 10:24 left in the half on a three-yard run by Carvalho, capping an 83-yard drive.
With 7:17 left in the half, tailback Scott Pearlman ran 27 yards to make it 13-0. Pearlman finished with 64 yards on eight carries.
Ryan Harrison added a 22-yard field goal to make the score 17-0.
