Florida Defeats Louisiana State on Last-Second, 41-Yard Field Goal

Associated Press

Florida kicker Arden Czyzewski, making his first varsity appearance, kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired Saturday night to give Florida a 16-13 victory over Louisiana State.

Czyzewski replaced senior letterman John David Francis in the Gator lineup after Francis had kicked one field goal and missed another.

Florida Coach Galen Hall said: “I just decided to go with Arden and see what he could do.”

LSU’s David Browndyke tied the score with a 36-yard field goal with 1:19 to play.

Huey Richardson had four sacks, Richard Fain had two interceptions and Emmitt Smith rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown to lead Florida (4-1 and 2-1). LSU is 1-3 and 0-1.
