Juan (John John) Molina of Puerto Rico won the International Boxing Federation junior-lightweight championship when the referee declared hometown favorite Tony Lopez defenseless in the 10th round at Sacramento.

Referee James Jen-Kim stopped the scheduled 12-round fight at 2:40 of the 10th, bringing shouts of protest and a shower of beer from the crowd.

Molina (29-2), who lost a controversial decision to Lopez (33-2) last October in Sacramento, was well ahead on all three judges’ cards.
