Long Beach : Back-to-School Programs to Be Tonight for Parents

Share

It’s back-to-school time tonight for parents of middle and junior high school students.

The Long Beach Unified School District and the 40,000-member Long Beach Council of Parents and Teachers (PTA) is sponsoring a Back-to-School Night at each of the district’s 80 schools.

At middle and junior high schools, most programs will begin between 6 and 7 p.m. The hours vary. Parents of children in elementary and senior high schools were invited to similar programs earlier in the week.

In addition to meeting with their children’s teachers, parents also are invited to join their local PTA.

“The single best way a parent can help a child to learn is to become involved in the child’s education,” school board President Jenny Oropeza said. “October is PTA enrollment month. We urge every parent and even concerned grandparents to join this important organization.”
