NBC trots out new and old hit shows this weekend to compete with the World Series on ABC.

The popular “Hunter” begins its sixth season at 10 tonight(4)(36)(39) with Fred Dryer back in the starring role of a hard-nosed police detective. Then on Sunday at 9 p.m., NBC will broadcast “An Eight Is Enough Wedding,” a TV movie reuniting Dick Van Patten and most of the cast from the family show that ran on ABC from 1977 to 1981.

Although the shows won’t be on opposite the World Series here, where the San Francisco-Oakland action begins at 5:30 p.m., they will be in much of the rest of the country.

Also launching a new season tonight is the syndicated “Superboy,” which starts its second season on KNBC Channel 4 at 7:30 p.m. with several new cast members. The dual role of Clark Kent and Superboy will now be played by Gerard Chistopher, and Clark has a new roommate, portrayed by Andy McAlister.
