A 14-year-old girl was treated for a gunshot wound to her right leg early Saturday after she was shot from a passing car in Encinitas, authorities said.
The victim was released after treatment at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas following the 4 a.m. incident in the 1100 block of Regal Road.
Deputies were dispatched about 3 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots fired in the area, according to Sgt. Dan Goodrich.
An hour later, while still in the area, deputies heard four successive blasts of gunfire and found the girl, whose identity was not disclosed.
