A 17-year-old youth remained in stable condition after being stabbed in the back during a birthday party at the Glendale Armory, hospital officials said Wednesday.

The victim told police that he is a former member of a Filipino gang and thinks that affiliation was the reason for the attack. At the time of the stabbing, he was wearing a black leather jacket with a gang insignia, police said.

The youth, who is recovering at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills, was stabbed while standing in a crowd during a private party in the armory in the 200 block of E. Colorado Street at about midnight Saturday, police said. No arrests have been made, but investigators are treating the case as a gang-related incident.

The stabbing was the second violent, gang-related crime during a Saturday night party at the armory in the past six months. A 17-year-old youth was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting on the armory sidewalk May 19.
