THE SIDELINES : Mavericks Trade Draft Rights
The Mavericks traded the rights to unsigned second-round draft choice Pat Durham to Milwaukee today in exchange for the Bucks’ second-round draft choice in 1993.
“We drafted Pat because we felt he had NBA potential,” said Norm Sonju, Mavericks chief operating officer and general manager.
Durham, 22, was invited to training camp after participating in the Mavericks’ four-day, rookie free-agent camp, which ended Oct. 2. Durham remained unsigned, however, and the NBA requires all players in training camp to be under contract.
Durham, a 6-foot-8 forward from Colorado State, was selected by Dallas with the 35th pick in the June 27 draft. He averaged 18.5 points per game last season as a senior.
