Whittier : Planners Want Theater Farther Away From Homes
- Share via
The Whittier Planning Commission has voted against a proposal to locate a movie theater about 20 feet from a residential area near the Whittwood Mall because it would be obtrusive.
The commissioners told officials for Lusk Co., the project developer, to find a way to place the 10-screen theater closer to the mall instead of the residences. The company was asked to return later with revised plans.
About 200 residents from the neighborhood near Whittier Boulevard and Scott Avenue showed up at the commission meeting to listen to testimony on the issue. About half a dozen residents spoke out against the proposal.
It would be the first multiscreen movie theater in Whittier.
