Dave Parker and Storm Davis, who helped lead the Oakland Athletics to the World Series championship, filed for free agency.
Davis, bypassed in Oakland’s rotation after an earthquake caused a 10-day delay in the Series, had said last week that he thought there might not be a future for him with the Athletics. His agent, Ron Shapiro, said that Davis had been speaking in frustration.
Davis, who earned $587,500 in 1989, was 19-7 with a 4.97 earned-run average in 31 starts.
The 38-year-old Parker, who made $875,000, batted .264 with 22 homers and 97 runs batted in.
Meanwhile, Sandy Alderson, Oakland’s vice president for baseball operations, has not yet said if he wants Parker back. Parker’s agent, Barry Meister, said he expects to talk with Alderson next week.
