TENNIS ROUNDUP : McEnroe Has Easy Time With Chang

John McEnroe easily beat Michael Chang and Boris Becker was forced to a third-set tiebreaker for the second consecutive day before winning his quarterfinal match Friday at the $1.3-million Paris Open.

McEnroe defeated the 17-year-old French Open champion, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the semifinals against Becker, who beat Wally Masur of Australia, 6-7 (7-2), 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).

In the other quarterfinals, second-seeded Stefan Edberg of Sweden beat Jakob Hlasek of Switzerland and Aaron Krickstein defeated Brad Gilbert, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Defending champion Martina Navratilova extended her domination of former doubles partner Pam Shriver to 24 consecutive matches with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the quarterfinals of a $300,000 tournament at Worcester, Mass.

Navratilova lost just eight service points in the opening set and required just 22 minutes to conclude with a second set at love.
