ON THE SIDELINES : 2 Boxers Recover After Fights
British boxer Jim McDonnell was back home after being hospitalized in the wake of a knockout by super-featherweight world champion Azumah Nelson.
Another British fighter injured in a recent bout, middleweight Rod Douglas, was reported heading for complete recovery after surgery to remove a blood clot from close to his brain.
McDonnell spent almost 48 hours in Charing Cross Hospital after being knocked out by Nelson in the 12th round of their World Boxing Council title fight Sunday night. McDonnell remained on the canvas for three minutes after the blow and was hospitalized on orders of the British Boxing Board of Control. Throughout his stay, doctors listed his condition as stable.
Douglas has been hospitalized since being stopped by Herol Graham in a British championship fight two weeks ago.
