Grossmont 2-A League

Grossmont 41, El Cajon Valley 0--Grossmont set a conference record for scoring, and kicker Jeremy Chiuchiarelli tied the section record for extra points in a season at El Cajon Valley (1-9, 1-4). Grossmont (9-0-1) has scored 420 points to break the record of 392 set by Granite Hills in 1986. Chiuchiarelli kicked five extra points to give him 46 for the season, tying him with Eric Griffin of Lincoln and Shannon Vinje of Orange Glen. Chiuchiarelli missed his final attempt of the game. Keith Price ran for 158 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries.

Avocado League

El Camino 35, Carlsbad 7--Brian Madlangbayan rushed for a season-high 173 yards on 18 carries and had touchdown runs of five, one and 75 yards. Defensively for No. 4 El Camino (9-1, 7-0), Martin Arispe had two interceptions.

San Pasqual 27, Ramona 7--Cullen Owen carried 17 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 9 San Pasqual (9-1, 5-1). Rodger Hill and Dave Goss had interceptions for San Pasqual.

Oceanside 21, San Marcos 6--Oceanside improved to 5-4 and 4-2 after scoring 21 first-half points. San Marcos is 3-6, 2-4.

City Eastern

Mira Mesa 34, Madison 6--J.J. Rowlette only completed four of eight passes, but two completions went for touchdowns of 43 and 27 yards to Marc Zeigler to lead Mira Mesa (7-3, 3-2). Don Elder ran eight times for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Serra 18, Patrick Henry 13--Serra linebacker Peter Rittman had 12 unassisted tackles, six of them sacks. Robert Hamilton rushed for 108 yards on 18 carries for Serra (3-7, 1-4). Jason Lonsdale had 10 catches for 123 yards, and Luke Lowrey was 15 of 35 for 266 yards for Patrick Henry (4-6, 1-4).

City Central

Crawford 28, Christian 0--Crawford (8-2, 4-1) clinched at least a tie for first as quarterback Phil Parker ran for 72 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. He also completed six of 12 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Peter Ervin rushed for 65 yards on 11 carries. Christian finished at 3-7, 1-4.

Hoover 15, St. Augustine 8--Tony Banks threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Steve Perry, and Jerome Kennedy scored on a one-yard run for Hoover (5-5, 3-2). St. Augustine drops to 6-4, 3-2).

City Western

Mission Bay 20, USDHS 19--Mission Bay (8-2, 4-1) pulled it out on a 17-yard touchdown run by Pat Betancourt with five minutes left. With their performances, Betancourt (nine carries, 58 yards), Schearon Stewart (20 for 91) and Marlon Gardina (seven for 61) combined to rush for over 2,000 yards on the season.

La Jolla 27, Clairemont 0--Nick Alford had 195 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries to lead host La Jolla. Alford scored on runs of four, 60, two and 51 yards. Craig Woodall was 10 of 19 for 155 yards for La Jolla (3-6-1, 1-5). Clairemont (1-8, 0-5) was held to 121 total yards.

Metro Conference

Sweetwater 30, Castle Park 7--Willie Branch scored on a 59-yard punt return, a 97-yard kickoff return and a 61-yard run, and Jason Tovar recovered a fumble in the end zone to lead Sweetwater (6-2, 5-5) at home.

Southwest 34, Montgomery 7--Junior Ochoa rushed 16 times for 112 yards and three touchdowns to lead host Southwest (7-2-1, 5-1-1). With the score tied, 7-7, in the second quarter, Ochoa carried five consecutive times on a 69-yard drive, capping it with a 13-yard touchdown run. Montgomery is 3-7, 2-5.

Chula Vista 29, Mar Vista 15--Steve Gomez caused the greatest damage to his old team as he caught five passes for 86 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 2 Chula Vista, which clinched the conference title. Gomez, who played at Mar Vista last year, caught touchdown passes of six, seven, 28 and 55 yards from Derek Chapman for Chula Vista (9-0-1, 6-1-1). Chapman was 11 of 17 for 154 yards. Richard Vega rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown to lead Mar Vista (3-7, 1-6).

Palomar League

Vista 14, Mt. Carmel 0--Choo Choo Walker ran for a touchdown and threw for a two-point conversion for Vista (4-6, 3-4). Mt. Carmel (6-4, 5-2) has lost two games in a row.

San Dieguito 21, Orange Glen 19--Mike Henry ran for 107 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, and Troy Anderson added 74 yards on 12 carries for San Dieguito (7-3, 4-3). Ryan Strathearn had 198 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries for Orange Glen (5-5, 3-4).

Rancho Buena Vista 34, Poway 20--O.J. Hall rushed 22 times for 241 yards and four touchdowns to lead Rancho Buena Vista (7-3, 7-0). RBV had 335 yards rushing. Poway is 4-6, 2-5.

Nonleague

Monte Vista 34, Valhalla 13--Charles Whitehead ran 13 times for 100 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Deron Claiborne scored on three of his four carries for Monte Vista (6-4).
