COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Irvine’s Doubles Teams Advance in Regional
UC Irvine’s top-seeded doubles team of Trevor Kronemann and Shige Kanroji won their second-round match over Pepperdine’s Mark Hansen and Brian Dick, 6-2, 6-2, Friday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn. regional championships at UC Irvine.
Irvine’s doubles team of Mike Roberts and Aaron Stolpman defeated the University of San Diego’s J.R. Edwards and Dan Mattera, 6-2, 6-4.
In third-round singles action, Irvine’s Mike Saunders, Andy Joe and Jeff Miyamoto lost their matches and were eliminated.
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
UC Irvine 3, Cal State Fullerton 1--Kim Collins had 26 kills to lead UC Irvine to a 15-13, 16-14, 14-16, 15-6 victory at Fullerton. Susan Herman had 17 kills for Fullerton (7-18, 1-13). Irvine is 17-12, 5-10.
