Car Chase Leads to Pipe Bomb Stash

Aman who led police on a car chase early Monday was arrested after officers found two homemade pipe bombs in his car, Los Angeles police said. Additional pipe bombs later were found inside the man’s Canoga Park house.
The 27-year-old man, whose name was withheld, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive device and was being held at the Police Department’s Van Nuys jail, Detective Ed Brimmer of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Criminal Conspiracy Section said.
Police on a pursuit on West Valley streets after officers tried to pull him over for speeding shortly after midnight, authorities said. He stopped a short time later near Laramie Avenue and Califa Street, east of Warner Center, Brimmer said.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Bomb Squad removed the pipe bombs from the car and later detonated them, Brimmer said. Brimmer would not say how many bombs were found in the man’s house. He said he did not know what the man intended to do with the devices.
