New Mexico--Terry Kirk, Pacific Palisades: “Stayed three days at the lovely Bed & Breakfast called Adobe Adobe, 202 Chapelle, Santa Fe, N.M. 87501. Decorated Southwestern-style, Indian crafts. England--David Graham, Los Angeles: “If you’re planning to stay in London for a week or more, it could be well worthwhile to buy a Zone 1 and Zone 2 underground and bus pass. A big saving over individual fares. Take an extra passport photo with you and go to the nearest underground station to pick up the weekly pass.”

Extraordinarily friendly hosts, Peter and Chris and daughter Michelle. Wonderful meals provided. Cost: 12.60 per night for bed and breakfast. England--Jerry and Lois Dunklin, Canoga Park: “A warm welcome awaits each guest who steps into the delightful bed and breakfast home of Margaret Givens, 8 Bondgate Without, Alnwick, NE66 1PP, Northumberland, England. This B&B; is truly a superb value. Spring prices were 67 per person for dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights. The hotel is now charging 40 per person for one night.”

France--Marjorie E. Newhouse, Portland, Ore.: Enjoyed a tour with Mme. Claudia de Guere, St. Cirq Lapopie 46330 France. “Selected iteneraries in various parts of France. Choice of hotels is excellent. We traveled by private motor car through the Chablis country. Ten memorable days. Highly recommended.”

France--Burks Hamner, Los Angeles: Recommends La Villa Hotel, 29 Rue Jacob, 75006 Paris. Rates: 700/2,300 francs. And Hotel Pavillon de la Rein, 28 Place des Vostes, 7500 Paris. Rates: 850/2,200 francs.

Italy--Larry Kosberg, Los Angeles: “La Favorita, a small hotel/restaurant in Apricale, a 1,000-year-old mountain town 20 minutes from coastal Ventimiglia and San Remeo. Owned by Delio and Cora Viale. Both speak excellent English. Six clean, pleasant rooms. About $42 U.S. double. The real treat is the Ligurian cuisine, which includes spinach ravioli, gnocchi with gorganzola. Netherlands--William R. Kroonen, Palm Desert: “Hotel Washington, Frans Van Mierisstraat 10, 1071 RS Amsterdam. This 19-room facility has been completely remodeled. Our double room with full bath and full Dutch breakfast was the best in the house, and was priced at under $70 U.S. per night. Owners/managers exceedingly cordial. Felt as if we were visiting in a friend’s home. Only a five-minute walk from the Concertgebouw.”

Netherlands--Albert R. Baca, Studio City: “Hotel Sweelinck, Sweelinckplein 78, The Hague. In a converted 19th-Century house. Charming, quiet square. Breakfasts are excellent. Prices: $28/38 U.S. single, $53/68 double.”

Netherlands--Ruth H. and Robert L. Munroe: “Charming little hotel about two hours’ drive east of Amsterdam in tiny, quiet village of Almen near the old town of Zutphen. Hotel de Hoofdige Boer, Dorpsstraat 38, 7218 AH Almen. Price: about $65 U.S. for two for bed and breakfast.”

Turkey--Dick Kitch, Watsonville: “Guest house Berk, Kutlugun Sok., No. 27, 34400 Sultanahmet, Istanbul. Double with private bath: $32 U.S. per day.”

Australia--Margaret Gascoigne, Pacific Palisades: “The Sarina Beach Motel, Sarina Beach, Queensland, 23 miles south of MacKay. Luxury at the beach with lots of extras. All suites have kitchen facilities. Excellent meals. Doubles, $40 Australian per night. No seasonal variations.”
