THE SIDELINES : ‘The Truth,’ Biggs in Title Bout
Carl (The Truth) Williams will defend his U.S. Boxing Assn. heavyweight title against Olympic gold medalist Tyrell Biggs Jan. 11 at Atlantic City, it was announced today.
Ira Leibowitz, Williams’ manager, also said the fighter will appear at a hearing at the WBA convention in Philadelphia on Friday, hoping to have his loss to heavyweight champion Mike Tyson ruled no contest. Williams claims a head butt led to a premature decision by the referee to stop the fight after 93 seconds July 21.
