Recovering: Kitty Dukakis has made her first public speech since she was hospitalized Nov. 6 after swallowing rubbing alcohol. The crowd of 150 at the Wednesday evening fund-raiser in Boston gave her a standing ovation at the beginning and end of her talk. “I’m doing all right,” she told a well-wisher. A spokesman for Michael Dukakis said Mrs. Dukakis is undergoing treatment in the Affective Disorders Unit at Deaconess Hospital and spending time with her family.

Try again: Talk show host Dick Cavett needed 35 tries to make a videotape promoting West Virginia. But give him a break: He made it in Japanese. West Virginia Gov.
