Share

Christina Adams broke the San Diego Section record for free throws made in a game as Grossmont High School defeated Serra, 59-48, in an El Cajon/Santana Tournament girls’ basketball game Saturday.

Adams, a junior guard, made 28 of 34 free throw attempts and scored 49 points. The previous record for free throws in a game was 17, held by three girls and all set in 1989: Suzie O’Brien (San Marcos), Monica Filer (Point Loma) and Marcey Wolf (Chula Vista).

Adams added nine field goals--three three-pointers. And in the believe-it-or-not department, Grossmont Coach Frank Foggiano wasn’t particularly impressed.
