Councils Pick Mayors, Seat Members : Government: Veterans of Westlake Village and Agoura Hills government are elected to one-year terms as mayor.

The city councils of Westlake Village and Agoura Hills selected new mayors and installed newly elected members Wednesday night.

In Westlake Village, Councilwoman Bonnie Klove was selected by her colleagues for the mostly ceremonial position of mayor. In Agoura Hills, Councilwoman Vicky Leary was picked to be mayor. Both will serve for a year.

Klove and Leary have served on their respective councils since their cities were incorporated. Westlake Village was incorporated in 1981, and Agoura Hills became a city in 1982.

Franklin D. Pelletier had been mayor of Westlake Village for the past year. He and Irwin Shane left the council Wednesday, after serving two terms each. Two new members were installed, businessman Douglas R. Yarrow and former City Manager James E. Emmons.

Yarrow and Emmons won their seats in the Nov. 7 election, in which Shane was defeated. Pelletier did not run.

Councilman Kenneth E. Rufener was selected mayor pro tem in Westlake Village.

In Agoura Hills, where Councilwoman Darlene McBane had been mayor for the past year, businessman Ed Kurtz took his place on the council Wednesday. He won his seat in the Nov. 7 election, in which Jack W. Koenig was defeated.

Agoura Hills City Councilwoman Louise C. Rishoff became that council’s new mayor pro tem.
