Woman Dies, Man Hurt in N. Hollywood Crash
A woman was killed when her car was struck by an alleged drunk driver and pushed into a row of parked cars on a North Hollywood street, Los Angeles police reported Wednesday.
The 43-year-old North Hollywood woman, whose name was not released pending notification of her family, died shortly after the 10 p.m. accident Tuesday in the 12700 block of Oxnard Street, Officer Robert Kalstrom said.
The victim’s westbound car was struck from behind by a car driven by Jaime Ramirez, 30, of Van Nuys, Kalstrom said. Ramirez and the victim’s cars crashed into three parked cars, he said. The woman was pronounced dead at North Hollywood Medical Center.
Ramirez, who suffered serious injuries, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and drunk driving and was being held in the jail ward of Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
