Ozzie Smith Wins 10th Gold Glove

St. Louis shortstop Ozzie Smith was awarded his 10th consecutive Gold Glove in the National League, becoming the only major leaguer to receive the award ea c h year of the 1980s.

Devon White of the Angels shared American League outfield honors with Kirby Puckett of Minnesota and Gary Pettis of Detroit.

Other AL winners were first baseman Don Mattingly of the Yankees, second baseman Harold Reynolds of Seattle, shortstop Tony Fernandez of Toronto, third baseman Gary Gaetti of Minnesota, catcher Bob Boone, of Kansas City and pitcher Bret Saberhagen of Kansas City.

Other National League awards went to first baseman Andres Galarraga of Montreal, second baseman Ryne Sandberg of the Chicago Cubs, third baseman Terry Pendleton of St. Louis, outfielders Andy Van Slyke of Pittsburgh, Tony Gwynn of San Diego, Eric Davis of Cincinnati, catcher Benito Santiago of San Diego and pitcher Ron Darling of the Mets.
