THE SIDELINES : Braves Promote Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron, baseball’s all-time home run leader, has been promoted to senior vice president with the Atlanta Braves.
Team officials announced the move Thursday.
Aaron also will serve as assistant to team President Stan Kasten. He will represent the Braves in community relations and help develop the club’s program for minor-league players.
Aaron’s assistant, Bobby Dews, will serve as minor-league director.
“I consider this a great opportunity to move into another area within the Braves’ front office,” Aaron said. “I’m hopeful I can make a contribution to the entire organization and be helpful to Stan and Bobby in everything they do.”
Aaron played 21 of 23 seasons with the Braves. He joined the Braves’ front office in 1976, when he was named vice president and director of player development.
