Public Schools
As elected officers of a church congregation that represents a diversity of views, both theological and political, we feel obligated to speak out against pressure groups that are warning our community that they intend to impose upon our schools their own specific moral code and system of censorship.
We believe in and try to exemplify good family values, one of which is respect for all persons and human differences. Part of our spiritual tradition has also been support for public education and the freedom of the mind.
We both oppose and fear those who serve notice that their goal is to “capture” the public school system to further their own narrow ends, no matter how exalted they imagine them to be.
