THE SIDELINES : Cubs Make Perry a Free Agent
From Times wire services
CHICAGO —
The Chicago Cubs will not tender a contract to left-handed pitcher Pat Perry, which makes him a free agent, team officials said today.
Perry was 0-1 with a 1.77 ERA in 19 games, said Cubs spokeswoman Sharon Pannozzo. He worked 35 2/3 innings.
Perry was placed on the 15-day disabled list June 17 with tendinitis of his left shoulder. He spent the remainder of the season on the disabled list.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery to his left shoulder Nov. 10.
