A man convicted of holding topless bar owner William Carroll down while Carroll was shot in the head was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison by a Superior Court judge in Santa Ana. Prosecutors say Joseph Angelo Grosso, 46, held Carroll by the legs while Michael Rizzitello--identified by law enforcement officials an organized crime figure--fired three shots into Carroll’s head. The prosecutors say Rizzitello, whose case is pending, wanted to gain control of Carroll’s Mustang Club. Carroll, who survived the attack but was blinded, testified at Grosso’s trial.
