PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Clark Scores Twice as Laguna Hills Defeats Costa Mesa, 3-1

Scott Clark had two goals to lead Laguna Hills High School to a 3-1 victory over Costa Mesa in a Pacific Coast League boys’ soccer match Wednesday at Laguna Hills.

The goals were Clark’s sixth and seventh of the season as Laguna Hills improved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in league play. Costa Mesa is 0-2 in league play.

Brian Flayback scored his eighth goal of the season for Laguna Hills.

In other Pacific Coast League matches:

Orange 4, Woodbridge 3--Juniors Justin Zayas and Jason Smith and freshmen Robert Rodriguez and Marcello Sandoval scored for Orange (3-1-2, 2-0) at Woodbridge. The Panthers trailed, 3-2, at halftime but came back to win on goals by Sandoval and Zayas. John Szczuka had two goals and Jason Szczuka had one for Woodbridge (0-2 in league play).

Trabuco Hills 1, Laguna Beach 0--Senior Greg Daman scored his eighth goal of the season 25 minutes into the second half for Trabuco Hills (5-3, 2-0). Goalie Bill Lyons had 15 saves for Laguna Beach (0-2 in league play).

In the Garden Grove League:

Kennedy 0, La Quinta 0--Jerry Vargas had five saves for visiting Kennedy (1-2-2, 0-0-1).

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

Corona 1, Canyon 0--Joe Gonzalez scored for Corona (7-2) at Canyon (5-3). Corona outshot Canyon, 14-7.

Foothill 3, Corona del Mar 0--Jeff Fischbeck had two goals to lead host Foothill. Darren Jacobs had the other goal for Foothill (6-0).

Huntington Beach 2, Los Alamitos 0--Matt Biewer and Sing Pravongviengkham each scored for visiting Huntington Beach (3-2).

Magnolia 6, Buena Park 0--Oscar Lopez and Thuan Pham scored two goals each and Jaime Reyes and Roger Crawford added one each for visiting Magnolia (2-2-1).

In nonleague soccer:

Newport Harbor 2, Irvine 1--Alex Opoulos’ second-half goal broke a 1-1 halftime tie and give host Newport Harbor (6-1) the victory. Todd Bryson also scored for Newport Harbor. Takeshi Sasasuki scored for Irvine. Goalie Josh Kline had eight saves for Newport Harbor and Matt Levin four saves for Irvine.

Ocean View 2, Capistrano Valley 0--Peter Lak scored in the first half and Jed Smith in the second for visiting Ocean View (3-2-1).

University 2, Thousand Oaks 0--Adam Clarke and Diego Serrano each scored to lead University (2-2) at home.

Villa Park 2, Troy 2--Jimmy Obleda had two goals for visiting Villa Park.

In nonleague girls’ soccer:

Fullerton 2, Rosary 2--Jennifer Schulte scored both goals for visiting Rosary (3-3-3), which led, 2-1, with one minute left in the match when Fullerton tied the score.

Dana Hills 1, Los Alamitos 0--Kristin Bye scored in the first half for visiting Dana Hills (7-0).
