Bradley’s Kin Charged in Drunk Driving Case

Drunk driving charges were filed Thursday against Phyllis Bradley, the daughter of Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley.

Bradley, 44, of Los Angeles had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 after she was arrested Dec. 15, said city attorney’s spokesman Mike Qualls. A reading of 0.10 or above is presumed drunk, according to state law. Officers stopped Bradley between 12th and Bronson avenues in the Mid-City district after they spotted her car making an illegal U-turn on Pico Boulevard.

Bradley, who has a history of drug and alcohol problems, initially refused to submit to a sobriety test. But her father, whom she called, talked her into taking a breath test, police said. She is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 5 on two misdemeanor charges--driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.10 or above. She faces a maximum penalty of $1,000 in fines and one year in jail.
