Lakers Put McCants on Injured List
Mel McCants, the Lakers’ rookie forward who has been bothered for the last three weeks by sprains in both ankles, was put on the injured list Friday.
McCants, who sprained his right ankle on Nov. 24 and his left ankle a few days later, will miss a minimum of five games. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound free agent from Purdue, has played in only four games for the Lakers, his last appearance coming Nov. 17 against Denver.
The Lakers did not say whether they will replace McCants on the roster. He is eligible to be reactivated on Jan. 9, when the Lakers play at Phoenix.
