Censoring Schoolbooks

I have read your article. I do think kids are ready because we like it. Some parents think that we don’t like it, but they’re forgetting that we watch movies like “Friday the 13th,” “Nightmare on Elm Street,” etc. Some other people think we’re not ready for monsters biting children’s heads off and pigs and people eating excrement. Parents talk for their children, but sometimes they talk before they ask their children how their children feel about it.

I also understand that if you are a parent, you may have a right to choose what we learn in school. But they do not have the right to tell other parents how to raise (or teach) their children.

I feel like saying, “When we read, kids feel comfortable seeing, feeling and pretending that we’re there with the characters. Stories that do these things are good novels; stories written by committee somewhat bore us.”

We should have the right to read what we want to read. And one more thing, parents should tell us about these things because it is reality. They should tell us before we find out the hard way, then we will be prepared.
