Richardson, Lowe Spark Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves believe they have found a solution to their latest problem.
After losing nine games in a row, the Timberwolves came up with rookie Pooh Richardson and Sidney Lowe as the backcourt combination for a game at Minneapolis against the Houston Rockets.
The two guards led the Timberwolves to a 108-91 victory over the Rockets before 27,661 Wednesday night at the Metrodome.
Richardson had 18 points, and Lowe had 22 points and 13 assists as both played 48 minutes. They teamed to trigger a rally that put the Timberwolves in command early in the fourth quarter. At the time, Minnesota led, 86-81, when Lowe made a layup and Richardson followed with a steal and dunk that started an 8-0 spurt.
Tony Campbell, the Timberwolves’ leading scorer who had previously started in the backcourt with Lowe, moved to small forward.
Akeem Olajuwon had 32 points, but the Rockets lost for the eighth time in a row on the road.
