San Diego
An elderly man was found dead Tuesday morning in the bedroom of his East San Diego home, his hands tied behind his back, police said.
The dead man was identified as Romie Hall, 84, a retired security guard. The cause of death and motive for the apparent homicide are unknown. An autopsy will be performed today, a spokeswoman for the San Diego County coroner said.
Police said neighbors became concerned when they discovered Hall’s front door ajar and his car missing Monday evening, although no one called 911 until Tuesday morning. When officers arrived at 9:43 a.m., they found Hall lying face down in a bedroom.
The burned-out shell of Hall’s car was found Tuesday night by San Diego police.
