Mira Costa guard Chris Hobbs scored 20 of his game-high 30 points in the second half Tuesday to help the Mustangs erase a 26-24 halftime deficit and defeat Centennial, 60-46. It was Mira Costa’s seventh straight win and kept the team tied for first in the Ocean League at 3-0.

Hawthorne’s press claimed another victim Tuesday as the Cougars forced 22 turnovers against Santa Monica and won, 73-54, to remain in a first-place tie in the Bay League at 3-0.

Lisa Leslie and Janet Davis combined for 34 points and 23 rebounds to lead Morningside’s girls basketball team to its 75th straight Ocean League victory Tuesday over West Torrance, 91-49.

Rolling Hills’ basketball team, three-time defending Bay League champion, fell to Inglewood, 68-65, Tuesday to open league play with an 0-3 record. It marks the first time in five seasons under Coach Cliff Warren that the Titans have lost three consecutive games.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills basketball team made just six of 24 field-goal attempts in the first half of Saturday’s 58-44 loss to Biola. The Toros (4-9) take a two-game losing streak into Friday’s game at Cal Poly Pomona.

West Torrance’s basketball team was outscored, 42-13, in the first half Tuesday en route to a 92-45 Ocean League loss to Morningside. The Warriors dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in league play.

North Torrance’s hopes for a turnaround this season appear in jeopardy after the Saxons suffered their fifth consecutive loss, 67-54, to Redondo, falling to 0-3 in the Ocean League and 5-9 overall.
