Country music singer Hank Snow, celebrating his 40th anniversary on the Grand Ole Opry, remembers having butterflies during his debut on the show.

“I remember it very, very well,” he said in an interview Thursday about his first Opry performance in 1950. “I was nervous, not to the point of passing out, but I was nervous.”

Snow, 75, will observe his anniversary on the long-running show Saturday night. The event will be broadcast live on The Nashville Network on cable television.
