P. M. BRIEFING : Shula Re-Signs With Dolphins
Don Shula, the winningest active coach in the NFL, has signed a three-year contract to remain with the Miami Dolphins, the team announced today.
Shula’s current three-year contract was to expire Feb. 28. Under terms of the new deal, Shula will continue to make final decisions in personnel matters. The new contract will pay Shula a salary estimated at nearly $1.4 million per season.
The agreement was reached less than two weeks after the death of Dolphins founder Joe Robbie.
Shula recently completed his 27th season as an NFL head coach and 20th year with the Dolphins. His career record is 285-132-6. He is second in career NFL victories, 40 wins behind the late George Halas.
