Naming the Airport Terminal After a County Air Pioneer

Share

I would like to ask your help in persuading the Board of Supervisors to realize the importance of naming the new airport terminal after Eddie Martin.

Martin, 88, is a pioneer aviator who started Orange County Airport in 1922. He is still living in Santa Ana today. His pilot’s license is signed by Wilbur Wright. I do not need to go into all of the accomplishments of Martin, as they are a matter or record.

There are many of us who would like to see the new terminal building at the airport named the Eddie Martin Terminal.

The supervisors have named the old terminal building after Martin, which is a disgrace, as they have already made plans to take the mosaic tile off of it and put it on the new building. Obviously, the existing building named for Martin is destined to be destroyed, and nothing will be left in his memory. I feel that this is an item of immediate priority because Martin’s health is deteriorating. It would be such an honor to accomplish this for him while he is still living.

Your newspaper would be the best way to make the public aware of this aviation pioneer, who is also a marvelous gentleman, and perhaps encourage everyone to let their supervisors know how they feel before it is too late.
