Stanford Women Beat Long Beach
Trisha Stevens scored 21 of her career-high 35 points in the first half to lead No. 2 Stanford to a 105-91 nonconference women’s basketball victory over sixth-ranked Cal State Long Beach Tuesday night.
Stevens, a junior center, also led all rebounders with 12 in helping the Cardinal (16-0) to its 22nd consecutive victory at Maples Pavilion. Trise Jackson led Long Beach (11-4) with 24 points.
Stanford, which has the nation’s longest winning streak at 16, took a 56-39 halftime lead and was never threatened. Stevens made eight of nine field goals in the first half and was 14 for 21 overall.
