Land for Park

Share

I am writing to applaud the actions of all who have worked toward preserving 1,500 acres for a San Dieguito River Valley Regional Open Space Park instead of developing the land as described in your article of Jan. 17.

The owner of the property and the benefactor acted unselfishly and responsibly.

The natural beauty of the land will be enjoyed by generations to come instead of being bulldozed and lost forever.

I sincerely hope that the farsightedness and generosity of these individuals will be an inspiration to BCE Development Corp. and Corky McMillin as a portion of their property is adjacent to the Miramar Reservoir and recreational area.

Their plans to grade the hills and build an industrial park and estate homes will not only destroy the natural beauty surrounding this important city resource, but also put the water quality of our reservoir in jeopardy.

As stewards of the land, let’s hope that they too will become smitten by the beauty of the hills and become aware of their unique environmental significance.

And let’s hope that this awareness will enable them to put their greed aside and preserve this small portion of their property for future generations.
