WEST COAST CONFERENCE ROUNDUP : Jerome Leads San Diego, 76-55

John Jerome scored 25 points Thursday to lead the University of San Diego to a 76-55 victory over Portland in a West Coast Conference game at San Diego.
The Torreros improved on a 37-25 second-half lead by scoring nine unanswered points with 14:17 remaining. They increased their lead to 76-48 with 2:15 left. Portland (6-14 and 3-4) scored the final seven points of the game.
Pat Holbert scored 18 points for USD (9-10 and 4-3).
Portland was led by guard Josh Lowery, who scored 18 points. Will McDowell added 11 points for the Pilots, who shot only 28%.
Santa Clara 70, Gonzaga 66--Ron Reis scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Broncos at Santa Clara.
Santa Clara trailed 48-47 with 8:47 left, but outscored Gonzaga, 17-9, to take the lead for good. Jim McPhee of Gonzaga (6-14, 1-6) scored a game-high 26 points.
