PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Arizona Leaves Washington State Behind

Arizona jumped out to 16-0 lead against Washington State in the first 5 1/2 minutes and the No. 24 Wildcats went on to beat the Cougars, 86-62, Thursday night at Pullman, Wash.

Brian Williams led Arizona with 19 points.

The Wildcats (13-4, 7-3) led by 32 points several times in the second half.

Washington State is 7-13, 1-9.

No. 21 Oregon State 98, California 81--The Beavers took sole possession of first place in the conference as Earl Martin scored 17 points at Corvallis, Ore.

Scott Haskins and Gary Payton scored 16 points each as Oregon State (16-3, 9-1) moved a game ahead of No. 16 UCLA.

Brian Hendrick scored 17 points for California (14-6, 5-4).

Oregon 62, Stanford 61--Keith Reynolds scored 23 points to lead all scorers as the Ducks came from behind at Eugene, Ore.

Stanford (4-5, 12-6) led, 39-29, with 15 minutes to play before the Ducks responded. Reynolds made four baskets as Oregon (6-4, 11-8) outscored the Cardinal, 16-2, in the next six minutes.

Arizona State 58, Washington 56--Isaac Austin’s two free throws with eight seconds left gave Arizona State a five-point lead, and the Sun Devils held off the Huskies at Seattle to record their first conference road victory.

Isaac Austin and Alex Austin each scored 17 points for Arizona State (11-8, 4-6). Washington is 9-10, 3-7.
