LOCAL : Phones Out in Antelope Valley

From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports
A severed cable knocked out telephone service this morning to 2,400 phone lines in the Antelope Valley, Pacific Bell officials said.
Customers in the communities of Lake Los Angeles and Littlerock lost service about 8:20 a.m., and phone company officials could not estimate when service would be restored. The prefixes 261, 264 and 944 were affected.
“We are not sure at this time exactly where the cut is,” said Kathleen Flynn, a Pacific Bell spokeswoman. “Most often in these cases, a construction crew has cut through a cable accidentally.”
