A driver arrested after leading officers on a high-speed pursuit claimed a bomb was in the trunk of her car, forcing the closure of a 12-mile stretch of the San Bernardino Freeway during rush hour this morning, authorities said.
Sheriff’s bomb squad officers, assisted by specially trained dogs, carefully searched the vehicle for an hour but found no explosives, California Highway Patrol Officer Monte Keifer said.
The motorist, Sara Louise Young, 25, of Ontario, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, evading arrest, making a false bomb report and endangering her 5-year-old daughter, who was with her in the car, CHP Sgt. Robert Pielock said.
She was jailed at Sybil Brand Institute for Women, and her daughter was released to the custody of relatives.
