Grossmont 3-A League

Helix 52, El Capitan 47--Nicole Cando scored 21 points and Andrea McTrusty added 13 for Helix (9-8, 4-1). El Capitan dropped to (5-12, 1-5).

Mt. Miguel 40, Monte Vista 35--Behind Jolinda Bone’s 14 points and Michele Hubbard’s 13 Mt. Miguel upset first place Monte Vista at Monte Vista. The Marauders improved to 7-10, 3-3. Amy Moreno had 14 for Monte Vista (11-8, 4-2).

Avocado League

San Pasqual 55, Escondido 34--Becky Callahan had a season-high 22 points, Nikki Gannon added 11 points and seven assists and Valerie Ryan had nine rebounds and nine points for seventh-ranked San Pasqual (18-4, 9-0).

Carlsbad 63, Ramona 39--Vanessa Nygaard led Carlsbad (7-9, 6-3) with 20 points. Teammate Sarah Dolkas added 12.

City Eastern League

Point Loma 62, Serra 23--No. 1 Point Loma got its 20th victory for the 10th consecutive season with another convincing victory. Tyeast Brown had 16 points and Robin Rabello 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Pointers (20-3, 6-0). Serra fell to 12-9, 2-3.

City Western League

USDHS 55, La Jolla 33--No. 9 USDHS improved its league record to 6-0 and remained undefeated in San Diego. The Dons’ only losses have been to teams from Canada and Australia. Amy Seidlinger (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Casey Burke (11 points, 11 assists) led host USDHS (14-2).

University City 37, Mission Bay 29--University City (12-4, 5-1) kept within a game of first place USDHS with a victory at Mission Bay. The Centurions were led by Charlotte Kornik’s 14 points and nine rebounds. Cindy Cowen had 14 and 10 for Mission Bay (7-14, 1-4).

Metro League

Bonita Vista 53, Castle Park 51--Torril Purvis scored 20 points to lead Bonita Vista, (15-4, 9-2), which moved into a first place tie with 10th-ranked Castle Park (15-4, 9-2). Christina Murguia had 21 to pace Castle Park.

Montgomery 63, Chula Vista 47--Montgomery’s Monica Vargas and Claudia Medina tied for a game high 17 points. Teammate Brooke Scarborough added 15 for the Aztecs (15-6, 9-2). For Chula Vista, Jennifer Benitez scored 14. The Spartans dropped to 7-12, 4-6.

Mar Vista 48, Sweetwater 42 (OT)--Dalow Houseman and Terra Gigax had 13 points each. Sweetwater was led by Katrina Baca with 12 points and Mary Machicote had 18 rebounds.

Palomar League

Poway 66, Vista 38--Christy Fortney led fifth-ranked Poway (17-3, 9-2) with 17 points and eight rebounds. For Vista, Alicia Gerken finished with 13. Vista dropped to 12-9, 5-6.

Torrey Pines 52, Mt. Carmel 51--Jamie Knudten scored her only basket, an eight-foot baseline jumper, as time ran out to give Torrey Pines the upset victory.

Knudten, a junior guard, also had 10 rebounds. Karyn Armstrong led all scorers with 21 points and also had 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals.

Torrey Pines improved to 12-8, 6-5. Mt. Carmel’s record fell to 15-5, 9-2. Adrienne Breland grabbed nine rebounds and scored 11 points for Torrey Pines.

Nonleague

Madison 57, Clairemont 29--Christina Dawson and Jodi Pidgeon each scored 16 points to pace Madison (7-10) in an easy victory at Madison. The Chieftains (1-17) were led by Maria Evans’ 14 points.
